Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has urged motorists to plan ahead for Sunday, November 1, when several major roads will be closed from 3am to 9:30am for the Dubai Ride cycling event, which coincides with the launch of the Dubai Fitness Challenge.
Sheikh Zayed Road will be fully closed between Trade Centre Junction and Al Safa Bridge during the event window. Lower Financial Centre Street will also be shut between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, while one direction of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard will be closed as well.
The RTA has pointed drivers toward alternative routes, including Upper Financial Centre Street, Zabeel Palace Road, Al Wasl Road and Al Khail Road, to keep traffic moving around the affected stretch.
Dubai Ride draws thousands of cyclists each year, turning Sheikh Zayed Road into a temporary cycling track. Participants can choose between a family-friendly 4km route through Downtown Dubai or a longer 12km course.
Motorists needing to cross the area during the closure window are advised to budget extra travel time or delay their trip until after 9:30am, when the roads are expected to reopen to regular traffic.
